The Gasperini family of the East Coast Salon presents a check to Pari Forood of Miles of Hope
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As in past years, salons, spas and mail salons across the Hudson Valley will be helping to raise money for Miles of Hope through donations and the sale of merchandise.
If you are a salon owner and would like to participate, email details of your participation and a photo to info@milesofhope.org/old and we will publicize your event via email, blog, and Facebook. You can download and print a poster showing your support (click to download). After the event, email us and tell us about your event and how much you raised, and include any photos — we will use this for follow-up publicity. Any checks should be made payable to Miles of Hope. You can write a check for any cash and mail checks, along with a short note, to: P.O. Box 405, Lagrangeville, NY 12540.
Clients of Hudson Valley salons: if your salon runs October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month promotions or other events, please give them your support. If your salon is not already a participant you can click to download the poster to print and show them how they can join in.

Dear Salon Owner/Manager,
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! We would like to help you recognize it by suggesting some events that you can organize and run at your salon.
First, a little bit about us—we are the only regional breast cancer organization funding support services for people affected by breast cancer in the 8 counties of the Hudson Valley. All money raised in the Hudson Valley stays right here helping your friends, family, and colleagues.
Second, we have 4 pillar programs that run throughout the year: Scholarships for high school seniors whose lives have been affected by breast cancer; a Peer to Peer program putting newly diagnosed patients with trained survivors; a Complementary Medicine program providing massage therapy, reiki, acupuncture, music and dance therapy at area hospitals; and the Medical Gap Care fund helping people in treatment for breast cancer with a financial emergency.
Third – how can you help? By running a fundraiser at your salon: cut-a-thon, designating a certain day in October when a portion of the proceeds will go to Miles of Hope, accepting donations with an attractive receptacle at the front desk, etc. We have merchandise (t-shirts, baseball caps, water bottles) available for your customers. Any idea has merit! So feel free to go to our website www.milesofhope.org/old and check us out. E-mail us at info@milesofhope.org/old or call 845-264-2005 if you want to help out this October. Thank You!
Some ideas for promotions:
- Have a cut-a-thon. East Coast Salon held a cut-a-thon and raised $2500 for Miles of Hope.
- Sponsor a pink extension promotion
- Sponsor a “Pink Manicures” event
- How about something similar to the “Pinkathon” that Salon Davide sponsored?
- Devise your own promotion with proceeds coming to Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Marion Salonspa held a Halloween event in which $2 of all products sold and 10% of services was donated to Miles of Hope. Get creative!
For more ideas, see the Salon events for past years.
We will promote your event via email, blog, and Facebook. Participating salons can download and print a poster showing their support (see poster).
Please send an email to info@milesofhope.org/old and tell us the name of your salon, your city name, and details about your fundraiser.
Any checks should be made payable to Miles of Hope. After the event, email us and tell us about your event, and how much you raised, and include any photos (we will use this for follow-up publicity, such as a blog post). You can write a check for any cash and mail checks, along with a short note, to: P.O. Box 405, Lagrangeville, NY 12540.
Thank you for helping your customers raise awareness about breast cancer!
