4th Annual Cosmos & Cupcakes For Causes A Real Sweetie

This 4th annual “sweet” event to benefit three great charities, The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Littman Cancer Center at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital was held on Tuesday evening, June 2. Nearly 200 people gathered at Anthony’s Pier 9 to watch cupcake contestants crowned and extravagant mixologists making creative “spirited” cosmos. By popular demand guests SAMPLED the cupcakes this year, enjoyed a light supper followed by a fantastic program that told the “Story” of the ties that bind the organization and the people they serve.
Regina McGrade, VP of Marketing and Development at the Family Health Center, the events lead and founding agency shared; “The committee teams from each charity are very proud of the collaborative spirit in producing this event and working with each other every day for the health and wellbeing of our communities. The collaborations also included the SLC Auxiliary, The Friends of the Family Health Center, the students at The Nora Cronin Presentation Academy for production – painting over 200 clay pots (cupcakes).”
The event has raised nearly $50k for EACH charity to date.
The Best in Show winning cupcake this year was “Raspberry Patch” by Tina James.
The Fan Favorite AND Second Place cupcake was “Southern Charm” by Gwen DeSousa, a 2013 winner of this event.
Third Place was “Tres Leche” by Atia Harvin and Richelle Winston
The reigning Cosmo Champion (Pineapple Upside Down Cake 2014), Allison Sutherland was recognized for her 2015 Cherry Vanilla Cosmo.

Join us Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 6 PM at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor, NY. Calling all bakers, amateur and pro!
The evening will include:
- Heavy hors d’oeuvres
- Cash bar
- Silent auction
- “Chopped”-style judging by professional bakers
- Purchase competition-quality cupcakes to eat there or take home
All proceeds after expenses benefit the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, the Littman Cancer Center at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital and Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.

CIA Stars to Judge Cosmos and Cupcakes June 4
The 2nd Annual Cosmos and Cupcakes for Causes to benefit the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Centers and the Littman Cancer Center at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is taking place on June 4, at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor [download flyer].
“This is a fun event where professional and non-professional bakers compete for the title of Cupcake King or Queen of the Hudson Valley,” explained Pari Forood, ED of Miles of Hope.
“Our Judges are led by Lynne Ryan, Culinary Institute of America graduate and wife of the President of the CIA Tim Ryan.
The other judges are Carlo Citera, owner and operator of Cosimo’s Restaurant Group (Torches, and Cosimo’s of Newburgh and Poughkeepsie) and Gennaro Pecchia & Alan Watts, of Men Who Dine www.menwhodine.com
“We are looking forward to a lively competition and urge all cupcake impresarios to enter the contest and attain their rightful place on the throne of honor,” Ms. Forood exclaimed.

Tickets are now available online for the second annual evening of Cosmos & Cupcakes, at Anthony’s Pier 9, 2975 US Route 9W, New Windsor, NY [map] on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 6:00 PM.
As with last year’s inaugural event, the 2013 Cosmos or Cupcakes for the Causes will be a very special evening with all proceeds benefiting local causes:
