Pink Pumpkins Inspire Seniors

pinkpumpkinsThe senior citizens at the Manor at Woodside in Poughkeepsie decided they would decorate and sell pink pumpkins in honor of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.

“Not only are the residents of the Manor creative, they are also very philanthropic,” explained Manor at Woodside sales leader Alisha Libruk. “It was important to them to have a fund raiser for breast cancer awareness and what better way than to decorate pumpkins!” she added.

“This is the second year the residents of Manor at Woodside have done this for us,” said Miles of Hope Executive Director, Pari Forood. “It is such a pleasure for me to meet with them and thank them for their initiatives on our behalf.”

“October brings out the best in people. I have been all over the 8 counties of the Hudson Valley, meeting with people and speaking at large gatherings to promote the benefits of early detection and a healthy lifestyle. Everyone wants to help us spread the message,” Ms. Forood said.
