Miles of Hope to Honor Marist College

top-MaristCollegeKidsAt the Annual Spring Brunch on May 3, which attracts 500 pink-clad people to the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation will honor Marist College.
“Since our inception 11 years ago, Marist has not only been encouraging of our foundation, but financially supportive as well,” explained Executive Director Pari Forood. “Marist women’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, women’s basketball and the entire athletic department have raised money for us with breast cancer games and hosted our events. They have sent us volunteers and interns, and it is high time we recognized all that Marist has done for us! We are truly indebted to Marist College, and we want to show our gratitude by saluting them at our biggest fundraiser,” Ms. Forood added.
Lisa Arnoff, Chairman of the Miles of Hope Board of Directors and Co-Chairman of the Annual Spring Brunch, expressed her excitement at the addition of red and white to the all-pink color scheme of the event: “We are honored that Marist Athletic Director Tim Murray will accept our thanks and appreciation by representing Marist at our event. Tim always attends the Marist athletic events honoring Miles of Hope and helps us to salute breast cancer survivors at the Play4Kay women’s basketball game in February.”
“The Brunch attracts breast cancer survivors, friends, family and colleagues,” explained Miles of Hope co-founder Cathy Varunok. “It is a feel-good event allowing everyone to laugh and have fun while remembering why Miles of Hope exists as the only regional breast cancer foundation in our area – to fund support services for people affected by breast cancer within the eight counties of the Hudson Valley, NY.”
“When I received the Marist College President’s Award in 2006, I was thrilled. Both Marist and Miles of Hope mean so much to me and the entire Effron family,” said Miles of Hope co-founder Dana Effron. “Both organizations have raised the quality of life in our Hudson Valley by supporting the community while embracing a higher purpose.”
