Goals for Hope Tournament Saturday August 4
Goals for Hope is a women’s charity soccer tournament that raises funds for the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.
The deadline for registering a team has ended — please come out and cheer on the teams!
Players — Click to download the waiver.
Survivors are invited to write affirmations about how they have been affected by Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Written material should be sent to Rihana at email@example.com (she can also help with the writing).
Even if you are not a soccer player, you can still come out and have fun cheering on your favorite team! There will be a concession stand with lunch, drinks and snack items throughout the day. Many wonderful items will be raffled off during the day.
During our 9th Goals for Hope tournament, we will be honoring breast cancer survivor Gaetan Boehm Banks. Tournament chair Mary Schanz said, “Gaetan, who was diagnosed in 2009, lives in Beacon with her husband Paul and their three children. She is very active in the Beacon Soccer League and the Southern Dutchess community.”
More than 700 women will be competing at four different levels of play. Co-Chairmen Mary Schanz and Judy Rose explained:
“All of the sports competitions that we sponsor are designed to be a friendly message emphasizing the benefits of exercise to all women. Goals for Hope Women’s Soccer Tournament is not about winning or losing but about participating and recognizing that we can be proactive about our health,” explained Mrs. Varunok.
