Community Walk, Run, Bike for Breast Cancer
Honoree – Samantha Scotti
Samantha (Moeser) Scotti was diagnosed at 36 years of age. After a valiant 11 year battle, she succumbed to metastatic breast cancer on January 12, 2021.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, sister and friend, Samantha was a deeply compassionate and thoughtful woman. She had the ability to see the good in the world. Known for being strong-willed, especially when it came to right and wrong, she was a passionate friend to all. She was quick to offer her enormous heart, a warm shoulder to cry on, or to just listen and be there to anyone in need. She was an enthusiastic singer and a magnet for children and animals of all kinds. There was not an animal or child that was not drawn to her, and she to them. She was quick to protect and wouldn’t stop until she could ensure happiness, even for turtles crossing the road. When it came to children, she was the first to solicit a hug, smile, or wipe a tear.
Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation was very special to Sam as she often said that Miles of Hope was the only organization that was there for her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Every year she was vigilant about gathering all of her friends and family to participate in the Miles of Hope Family Fun Run at Tymor Park and there were no excuses allowed – she demanded participation from those she loved.
She will be deeply missed by all. Even in her last days, her concern was for those around her. She was the definition of grace and compassion.
It is our honor to have Samantha as our 2021 Miles of Hope Community Walk for Breast Cancer Honoree. We are grateful to her husband, Anthony, and sister, Maryellen, for sharing Sam’s story with us.
