The Walk Results Are In!

And the results are in! The 2016 Miles of Hope Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer Totals are official! And the prize for the individual and team that raised the most goes to our 2016 Honoree, Dana Effron, and Dana’s Team.
The Walk raised a total of $68,780 gross income.
Congratulations to everyone who made this event such a success!

The Walk Results are Finally In!

The results from the 2015 Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer are in and the big winners are Barry Rothfeld and Team Shari! Barry Rothfeld, publisher emeritus of the Poughkeepsie Journal, raised $3,500 for his daughter’s team, Team Shari, which won for team with the most walkers at 53.

The team which raised the most was Peachy Keen at $6,300 and Team Shari was a close second with $5,400 with Team Boobylicious coming in 3rd with $5,100. Rounding out the list is Rockin’ Rays of Hope with $2,200, and Spack for a Cure with $1,840.

“Thank you to everyone who participated and especially to those who decided to go above and beyond the call by their stellar fund raising!” exclaimed Miles of Hope Executive Director, Pari Forood.

Second place in individual fund raising was Emmy Josephs with $2,600 raised. Emmy is a former Walk Honoree and a Miles of Hope star volunteer. Third place goes to Jasmin Alvarez with $2,400. Special thanks to Renee Audette ($1,580) and Debbie Zocchi ($1,240).

Teams with the most walkers were Team Shari (53), Team Angela (46), Rockin’ Rays of Hope (44), Team Boobylicious (23), and Pinky Swears (15).

Honoree Named for Hudson Valley Breast Cancer Walk

mary bonuraThe 13th Annual Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer will take place at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY on October 4, 2015, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Hundreds are expected to join breast cancer survivors, their families and friends to honor and remember all those affected by the disease in the Hudson Valley. The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, which organizes the event, is a regional charity with a mission to fund support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer within the eight counties of the Hudson Valley, NY. Kick-off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Poughkeepsie Journal Courtyard Sept. 10, 2015

october-awareness-logo-medCome to the Press Conference and Kick-off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 2015. This free event will take place on September 10 at 11:30 AM in the Poughkeepsie Journal Building courtyard, 85 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation has sponsored this for a number of years, and it is popular. The local charity’s Executive Director, Pari Forood, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, Dr. Kari Reiber and NY State Senator Sue Serino will be making brief remarks. Senator Serino will also present a check to the Foundation Co-Founders for breast cancer support programs funded in a Senate bill which she sponsored.

Afterwards the elected officials and Miles of Hope volunteers and breast cancer survivors will walk around the block surrounding the city municipal buildings to illustrate the benefits of exercise and adoption of a healthy lifestyle to reduce cancer risk.

All elected officials are invited to attend as well as all members of the public.
