Hoops for Hope 2015 Honoree Announced
Viccie Dennin 2015 Hoops for Hope Honoree
The 2015 Hoops for Hope Women’s Basketball Tournament (this year with a men’s division) on March 15, at Marist College’s McCann Arena supporting the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is honoring Viccie Dennin, a 15-year breast cancer survivor living in Beacon Hills, NY. Mrs. Dennin has been married to her husband, Mike, for 47 years and has four children and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Dennin is part of a truly athletic basketball family. Not only did she play in high school, but she and Mike helped run the CYO program at St. Mary’s Fishkill for over 25 years. All four of her children played basketball in both the CYO program and in high school at Our Lady of Lourdes, where both daughters played on championship teams. Mrs. Dennin now helps to ferry her grandchildren to CYO basketball!
As a breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Dennin knows adversity. When faced with her breast cancer diagnosis, she armed herself with a constant, strong faith and with the love and support of her family and friends.
Aside from their strong connection to basketball, Mrs. Dennin and her family also have a connection to Miles of Hope. Her daughters and son-in-law have been supporting the Foundation’s various programs over the years, including playing in the Hoops for Hope event, volunteering to referee games and even walking in the Community Walk. This year, family members will be playing in both the Women’s and the new Men’s Divisions for the Tournament.

The 9th Annual Hoops for Hope Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the McCann Recreation Center at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
Hoops for Hope is the annual 3 on 3 women’s charity basketball tournament that raises funds for Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Hoops for Hope allows women of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play basketball in a competitive or less challenging arena depending on their choice of division.

Hoops for Hope Photo and Video Contest Winners Announced
The Hoops for Hope tournament was amazing! Thank you everyone!
Six people entered the Hoops for Hope Photo Contest. Click to see all the photos. An impartial jury selected one photo from each set of photos, and posted them in a special photo album on Facebook. Facebook fans voted by “liking” one photo each.
The winning photo was taken by Lindsey Sacco, a Marist College student who will graduate with an undergraduate degree in Public Relations/Advertising this spring. The photo was of our wonderful volunteers at the Miles of Hope merchandise table, and included colorful t-shirt pictures.
Brian Howard volunteered to produced a new Hoops for Hope video. His video was the only submission, so he won the video contest.
Congratulations! Both winners get a “bag of Hope” filled with Miles of Hope merchandise.
