 Miles of Hope Co-Founders Dana Effron & Cathy Varunok; Karol Iapoce; & Exec Director Pari Forood. The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation raised $150,000 on Sunday May 5, 2013, to benefit funded programs for people affected by breast cancer in the 8 counties of the Hudson Valley, NY. “This was a great day!” exclaimed Executive Director Pari Forood. “Our attendance topped 450 and our speakers were incredible.” The first speaker, Karol Iapoce, is a one year breast cancer survivor who took advantage of the Miles of Hope-funded acupuncture program to relieve back pain which resulted from her chemotherapy. “I was in pain constantly during my immediate recovery,” she said, “however, after the acupuncture my back pain was eliminated and I felt a general sense of well-being I had not felt since my diagnosis.” The second speaker was Syracuse University senior and Spackenkill H.S. graduate, Clarice Muron-Bendaoud, who lost her mother to breast cancer when she was 13 and benefited from the Miles of Hope scholarship fund. “I became a part of the Miles of Hope family when I wrote the essay explaining how breast cancer had affected my life,” she explained. “Now that I am in college and looking back on that difficult period of my life, I can only thank Miles of Hope for turning something horrible into something redeemable.” Miles of Hope is a 501 (c) (3) public charity with a mission to fund support services for people affected by breast cancer in the 8 counties of the Hudson Valley. “All money raised in the region stays in the region,” explained Ms. Forood.  On May 5, 500 pink-clad people will gather at the Grandview for the Annual Miles of Hope Spring Brunch to honor and remember all those affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley.
“We have a record crowd coming this year and a Silent Auction with 2 grand prizes worth over $2500 each,” explained Miles of Hope Executive Director Pari Forood, pictured here with from l-r Laurie Schiavone, PF, and Brunch Chairman Lisa Arnoff.
Brunch participants will have the opportunity to support programs funded by the Foundation in various ways. “Aside from the grand prizes, we will have a wonderful Silent Auction with items from area restaurants and stores, as well as a Giving Tree where donors can purchase an ‘ornament’ to donate directly to a patient in treatment for breast cancer,” said Lisa Arnoff, Brunch Chairman. (see attachment, Auction Alternative) “We will honor all Miles of Hope Event Chairmen, as well as the ‘Angels’ who have been nominated by breast cancer survivors,” added Ms. Forood.

The program is initiated at the beginning of each year, and the angels and their nominators are honored at the Miles of Hope Spring Brunch.

 Miles of Hope holds fundraising events throughout the year The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation announced a program to honor the people who help to care for their loved one going through treatment for breast cancer.
“This is an opportunity to recognize the family member, friend, or colleague who is integral to the recovery of the breast cancer patient,” explained Pari Forood, Executive Director of Miles of Hope.
“We are asking anyone who has been through treatment for breast cancer to nominate their angel by sending us a testimonial with photos if they have them, explaining how their angel helped them. It does not have to be a long narrative. We will honor all angels and their nominator at the 8th Annual Spring Brunch on May 6, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie. The essays and photos will then be available for viewing at the Miles of Hope website at www.milesofhope.org,” she continued.
All entries must be received by e-mail to info@milesofhope.org by April 20, 2012, and all photos/testimonials become property of Miles of Hope. There is no fee to nominate an angel, and attendance at the Brunch is not required.
“Every time I speak with a breast cancer survivor, they tell me about the person or people who helped them. We feel it is time to bring that person into the limelight,” said Cathy Varunok, Co-founder of Miles of Hope.

The 8th Annual Miles of Hope Spring Brunch will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY.
This event has sold out!
The silent auction will be wonderful – click to download the auction book filled with items up for auction at the brunch.
In 2011, Miles of Hope raised more than $450,000 to fund support services for people affected by breast cancer in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley. Nearly one-third of that was raised at the Annual Spring Brunch.
You can make a donation “in honor” or “in memory” of someone. These will appear in the program book with a $100 donation for the first listing, and $25 donation for additional listings. The deadline for inclusion in program was March 30, 2012. Alternatively, you can make a direct donation in any amount to the event.
Companies are invited to sponsor this event and receive premiums such as ad space, tickets and publicity, depending on the sponsorship level (Rosaline Pink Sponsor, Petal Pink Sponsor, Rose Pink Sponsor, Hot Pink Sponsor, Garnet Corporate Sponsor, Ruby Foundation Sponsor, Champion of Hope, Heroes of Hope).
Individuals and companies can take out an ad in the program book. The deadline for inclusion in program was March 30, 2012.
