Charity Yard Sale to Benefit Miles of Hope August 28-30, 2015

yard-sale-hopeCommunity Friends’ Committee volunteers will hold their group yard sale to benefit the local charity, Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation on Friday-Sunday, August 28-30, from 9:00 am-4:00 pm, rain or shine.

The location is 10 North St. (off West Main St.) in the Village of Wappingers Falls. 
Kind offers will be encouraged for collected donated merchandise:  small appliances, home furnishings, crystal, crockery, framed paintings, lamps, small tables, pillows and decorative gift items for Christmas. Some committee members have survived cancer and/or lost relatives and friends to cancer.

The public will be welcome to shop for bargains to benefit a worthy cause.

Yoga for Hope Sept. 20, 2015

yoga-thumbKathy Delia from Millbrook Yoga will hold a fundraiser for Miles of Hope on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY.

What: Yoga For Hope
Where: James Baird State Park, Pleasant Valley, NY. Class will be held at the pergola across from the Shelter 2 sign. Class will be held, weather permitting.
When: Sunday, September 20th, 2015
Time: 9:30 am
Fee: $20 class donation (cash or check payable to Miles of Hope). All proceeds to Miles of Hope.

Kick-off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Poughkeepsie Journal Courtyard Sept. 10, 2015

october-awareness-logo-medCome to the Press Conference and Kick-off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 2015. This free event will take place on September 10 at 11:30 AM in the Poughkeepsie Journal Building courtyard, 85 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation has sponsored this for a number of years, and it is popular. The local charity’s Executive Director, Pari Forood, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, Dr. Kari Reiber and NY State Senator Sue Serino will be making brief remarks. Senator Serino will also present a check to the Foundation Co-Founders for breast cancer support programs funded in a Senate bill which she sponsored.

Afterwards the elected officials and Miles of Hope volunteers and breast cancer survivors will walk around the block surrounding the city municipal buildings to illustrate the benefits of exercise and adoption of a healthy lifestyle to reduce cancer risk.

All elected officials are invited to attend as well as all members of the public.

The 13th annual Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY. More about the Walk.

International Beer Festival Supports Miles of Hope

On Saturday, October 3, 2015, come to the International Beer Festival at Harbor Island Park, Mamaroneck, NY [map] from 12 PM until 5 PM.

Enjoy 300 beers from around the globe. A portion of proceeds goes to support Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.

Live bands, great food and plenty of cheer will make this day special!

Miles of Hope at the Senior Golden Gathering

sen-sueMiles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation will have a booth at the upcoming Senior Golden Gathering.
On Saturday, October 3, 2015, NYS Senator Sue Serino (pictured) will be hosting a Golden Gathering for the benefit of senior citizens across the 41st Senate District. The event will consist of health screenings, entertainment, refreshments, door prizes and various informational tables geared toward the interests and needs of area senior citizens. From senior safety to nutrition, the event acts as a ‘one-stop shop,’ bringing together invaluable resources for seniors and their families. Thanks to the generosity of the James J. McCann Charitable Trust, the event is free of charge for all who attend. This year’s event will be held at the Arlington High School, 1157 Route 55 in LaGrangeville, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

All area seniors and their families are invited to attend.
