Family Fun Run – 5K Run/Walk April 28 2012

Fun RunThe 2012 Family Fun 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club with all proceeds benefiting Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Tymor Park in LaGrangeville [map].

There will be a half-mile run for kids 4-11 starting at 10:00 a.m. The 5K walk/run starts at 10:30 a.m. Register now!

This will be a family event with all kinds of activities: face painting, 50/50 raffle, basket and gift certificate raffles, and vendors. Free massage therapy will also be available. Awards in the 5K for first overall female and male, as well as 1st, 2nd, 3rd places in each age category.

Tribute Miles Markers are available for a $50 donation. Mile Marker signs are displayed during the race in honor of, or in memory of, a friend or loved one who has battled breast cancer. Click to order a Mile Marker.

The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation held its 8th annual Family Fun 5K Run/Walk and kids race on April 30 at Tymor Park in Union Vale. A record-setting 408 5K participants and 44 kids enjoyed the music, food, vendors and awards.

The Family Fun 5K Run raised $20,000  for Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. It was held at Tymor Park in the Town of Union Vale, NY on Saturday April 30, 2011. It was organized by the Mid-Hudson Road Runner’s Club.

The race had nearly 600 participants including 150 children in the kids’ half-mile run. The event was honor of Bernadette Pikul, a resident of Highland who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Thank you to Lori Decker and Lynne Kopac, co-Chairmen of the Family Fun Run for a very successful race! Lori took time out from starting Pulse Cycling and Fitness in Millbrook and Lynne juggled her job at IBM and her love of running to make this the most successful Family Fun Run ever!

Sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club, this annual event raises money for Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. The last day to register online is May 5 – after that time, you may follow the instructions to register.

Family Fun Run Co-Chair Competes in Paris Marathon

Lori Decker of Dutchess County ran in the Paris International Marathon on April 11, and finished with a time of 4:12:20. More than 31,000 competitors lined up for the 34th edition of the Paris International Marathon on the Champs-Elysées. All along the route, from La Bastille to the quays of the River Seine via the Bois de Boulogne park, almost 250,000 spectators were present to encourage the competitors and enjoy the 80 live music concerts or shows dotted around the streets of the French capital.

Lori, (in photo at the Miles of Hope Community Walk for breast cancer last October) is a personal trainer at Crush Fitness in LaGrange.  She has organized the Miles of Hope Family Fun Run for five years. She co-chairs the event, with Lynne Kopac of Poughkeepsie, and together they welcomed hundreds of runners and raised over $15,000 for the foundation in 2009. This year the event will take place at Tymor Park in LaGrange on May 8.
