Forum: Preventing Breast and Ovarian Cancer with Genetic Testing
The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is presenting a free public forum, sponsored by Myriad Genetic Laboratories: Preventing Breast and Ovarian Cancer with Genetic Testing on April 9, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Click to download flyer (PDF).
“There have been questions about the benefits of genetic testing ever since the actress Angelina Jolie elected to have a prophylactic double mastectomy after receiving a positive BRCA test,” explained Miles of Hope Executive Director Pari Forood. “People with a history of breast and ovarian cancer in their family have questions, people with no history have questions– we just want to present a panel with experts open and free to the public on this important issue.”
Panelists will include: Kelli Mayfarth, MS, Certified Genetic Counselor at Vassar Brothers Medical Center; Dr. Jed Turk; Dr. Julia Schaefer-Cutillo; Dr. Angela Keleher FACS, Director of Breast Surgery, Dyson Center for Cancer Care, Vassar Brothers Medical Center; and Dr. Amy Novatt.
Panelists will speak on their topic for 10 minutes and then answer questions from the audience. All are welcome. Please RSVP for the conference by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org/old or calling 845-264-2005.
