On Thursday, September 6th at noon in front of the Poughkeepsie City Hall, Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro will join Pari Forood, Executive Director of the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and City of Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik for a press conference and “preview” walk around the City of Poughkeepsie to spotlight the upcoming 10th Annual Community Walk for Breast Cancer on September 30th, Miles of Hope’s flagship fundraiser.
Exercise is an important factor in lessening the impact of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. County Executive Molinaro is inviting people to join him for a one mile “preview walk” around downtown Poughkeepsie. The route is one mile and is an ideal route for residents and workers in the downtown Poughkeepsie area to utilize each day during their lunch break to get in shape and reap the health benefits of walking.
This preview walk is designed to encourage people to get involved in the upcoming Community Walk for Breast Cancer which will be held on Sunday, September 30th at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY, starting at 9:00 a.m. The Walk is 5K in distance, with a shorter garden walk available for those not able to complete the 5K.
