The first annual Miles of Hope — Lake Effect Car Show raised over $3500 through donations, sale of t-shirts and stickers, and a 50/50. Andrew Flynn of Poughkeepsie who lost his mother to breast cancer decided to organize a Car Meet to honor her memory and raise money for Miles of Hope.

As a car enthusiast, Andrew brought together his two loves and decided to organize a car meet as a fundraiser for Miles of Hope. “My mother was helped by Miles of Hope as was the receptionist at my office, American Heating and Cooling in Poughkeepsie,” he said. “I wanted to give back to the organization that helps people right here in the Hudson Valley.”

His cousin, Jason Safran, Car Chief of Dyson Racing brought a racing car and many of his staff to volunteer to the event last Saturday at Lake Taghkanic State Park in southern Columbia County. “We all wanted to pitch in to raise money for breast cancer programs,” Andrew said..
