New City, New York is the county seat of Rockland County, NY. It is a key community in the Hudson Valley region for its dedication to breast cancer awareness. The Tappan Zee Bridge connects Rockland County to other areas of the New York metropolitan area. This has made New City one of the fastest-growing suburbs of New York City. It is also a hub for Rockland County and the greater area in sharing breast cancer resources.

New City is thriving with the development of new businesses and homes. This is balanced by the peacefulness of undeveloped woodland, farms, and waterways. The city has easy access to Westchester County, Bergen County, Manhattan, the Bronx, and New Jersey. New City is a central area drawing people from all over the Hudson Valley.

Breast cancer awareness and outreach is an important part of the New City community. Unique to the area is the popular Kennedy Funding Invitational. The yearly unofficial tennis tournament raises funds for breast cancer treatment and research at local hospitals. Founded in 2006, it is held at New City’s Dellwood Country Club. The event draws thousands of spectators and benefactors. It has brought in such celebrity players as Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, and Andre Agassi to compete.

They benefit Rockland County and the other counties of the Hudson Valley region. The seven counties are: Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, Ulster, Westchester, and Orange.

Miles of Hope puts on six major fund-raising events every year throughout the area: Many smaller, independent fund-raisers are held for Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Some are one-time events and some are annual. These are listed in the Miles of Hope event calendar, posted on the blog, and announced by email. (Sign up for email announcements.) Many events are in Rockland County or within easy driving distance. You or your organization can hold your own fund-raiser for Miles of Hope. Click for fund-raising ideas.
