Charming downtown Hudson, NY
The city of Hudson is the county seat of Columbia County, NY, and a community committed to breast cancer support and outreach for those affected in the area. Named after the Hudson River and ultimately the explorer Henry Hudson, Hudson has a history as a thriving port city in America’s early history. This town is part of a community of breast cancer awareness and support that serves the greater area.
Though small, Hudson has been nicknamed “the friendly city” and boasts an active antiques and arts scene. Revived in the last few decades with prosperous residential and shopping areas, the city’s location on the western edge of Columbia County and bordering the Hudson River makes it a convenient and charming neighbor in an active community.

Breast cancer awareness and outreach is an important part of the Hudson community. Organizations like Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation were founded to help reach out to people affected by breast cancer in Hudson and the rest of Columbia County, as well as the surrounding Hudson Valley region. Established in March of 2004, Miles of Hope has sought to fund breast cancer programs and support services by holding annual events that benefit Columbia County as well as the other seven counties of New York’s Hudson Valley region: Ulster, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, and Orange.Miles of Hope puts on six major fund-raising events every year throughout the area: Many smaller, independent fund-raisers are held to fund Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation — some one-time events and some annual events. These are listed in the Miles of Hope event calendar, posted on the blog, and announced by email (sign up for email announcements). Many events are in nearby Orange County and Dutchess County, or within easy driving distance. You or your organization can hold your own fund-raiser for Miles of Hope – click for fund-raising ideas.
